Simple steps for common peripheral hardware issues.

Easy

Monitor Not Displaying

  1. Check the monitor is turned on (look for the power light)
  2. Check the cable between the monitor and the computer is firmly connected at both ends
  3. If using a dock: try connecting the monitor directly to the laptop
  4. Press the monitor's menu button to check the input source matches the cable you are using (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA)
  5. Try a different cable if available

Keyboard or Mouse Not Working

  1. Unplug the keyboard/mouse USB cable and plug it back in
  2. Try a different USB port
  3. For wireless: check the batteries and the USB receiver is plugged in
  4. Restart your computer — this often fixes device recognition issues
